The farm

La finca d’Heretat Ferrer de la Vall estate is located in the municipality of Piera, in the Anoia region of Catalonia.

The history of the Ferrer de la Vall farmhouse dates back to the 16th century. Before the arrival of phylloxera in 1888, the estate was mainly dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards, with only 2-3 hectares of forest and 1 hectare of orchard.

At present, the estate extends over 130 hectares, of which 23 hectares are devoted to the cultivation of unirrigated vines, without irrigation.

Its soils are of a limestone nature with gravel aggregates and some clay outcrops, with a silt loam profile.

The climate that caresses this land is mild throughout the year. Its southeast orientation protects it from the north winds in winter and during the summer, the sea breeze arrives after midday, providing humidity and cooling the vines. The average temperature in the warmer months is around 29 °C, while in the colder months it is around 2 °C, without frost being a threat in normal winters. The average annual rainfall reaches 606 liters, nourishing this land of prodigious fertility.
